Constitutional review

During the discussions of the 2024 Council of Delegates Meeting, held in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, also important changes to the constitution were debated.

One key change proposed by former IAF President, Patrick Morel, is updating Article 2.1.1 of the IAF Constitution, which defines falconry. The legally binding French version previously refers to falconry as a “sport,” but the proposed revision accurately describes it as the “traditional art of hunting quarry in its natural state with a trained bird of prey.”.

The constitution was further expanded upon through the inclusion of the new articles 2.1.7 and 2.1.8 in order to include welfare and biodiversity within the objectives of the IAF.

Council voted to harmonise previous differences in the constitution referring to the “Board” and “Advisory Committee” in different sections and membership categories were also updated.
